There’s so much to love about living in Pennsylvania and Maryland. The Leader family had this in mind when they founded and built our senior living communities. And to make our residents feel at home, each community was developed within close proximity to the very lives they lived prior to moving to Country Meadows. All of our senior living communities are a short drive — or walk, in some cases — to neighborhood restaurants, favorite shopping destinations, cultural venues, places of worship and more.

Finding our balance, one step at a time! ⚖️💪💙
Our Mechanicsburg (West Shore) Marketing Team and Fitness Director Seth recently headed to the local YMCA for a Balance Awareness Event focused on staying strong, steady and confident!
Seth joined a panel of experts to answer questions, share helpful tips and demonstrate some of the exercises our Country Meadows residents use to improve balance and help prevent falls. 🚶♀️👏
He also conducted fall risk assessments for attendees, receiving some wonderful feedback along the way!

When our residents heard that Brandon would be taking a few weeks off to recover from shoulder surgery, they knew they couldn't let him leave without a little celebration!
Following his final fitness class before surgery, residents at our Frederick campus surprised him with a special “See You Soon” social! With help from Independent Living Director Emily, they even arranged a thoughtful gift for him to use in future fitness classes. 🎁
And the turnout? So much love! 🥰 Residents showed up to wish Brandon well, whether they were fitness class regulars or not!
A special shoutout to Nancy, Sheila and Carol for being such wonderful hostesses and helping make the celebration so meaningful. 👏💕

Our York-West Pathways residents put their reflexes and coordination to the test with a creative activity led by Restorative Coordinator Dodie!
The goal? Use a beanbag to stop a rolling ball before it reached the end of the noodles. Sounds easy, right? Think again! 😆
Dodie is always coming up with clever ways to help residents stay strong, active and engaged, and this challenge was no exception!

Our York-South (Leader Heights) residents recently took center stage for a hilarious Readers Theatre performance titled “Love Shack!” 🎭
Written by Lori Kohler, the story followed a group of longtime beach shack owners who couldn't resist teasing one another while planning their next round of renovations. Let's just say everyone had an opinion! 🔨😆
Lori creates these lighthearted plays with characters and stories tailored to the residents performing them, making each production extra special.

A new school year means new friendships are about to blossom! Residents at our Bethlehem campus are getting ready to kick off the 5th year of our pen pal program with second graders from Freemansburg Elementary School in the Bethlehem Area School District!
Throughout the school year, residents and students exchange handwritten letters and homemade crafts each month, getting to know one another one envelope at a time. 💕🎨
And the fun doesn't stop at the mailbox! Residents will visit the school this winter to meet their pen pals, and in May, we'll welcome the students to Country Meadows for a picnic together! 🧺☀️

Different generations, one afternoon full of fun! 💙🎉
We had some special visitors recently when 9th and 10th grade students from Friends Meeting School stopped by for an afternoon of games, laughter and making new friends!
The students joined residents for a little Bingo, led some fun games and even handed out beautiful homemade flowers to residents in both Assisted Living and Independent Living. 🌸🎲
The smiles say it all! 🥰 Our Frederick campus was filled with laughter and new friendships, proving that some of the best connections happen when generations come together.

Along the way, the group explored the grounds of Milton Hershey School, passed by the Hershey Mansion and learned fascinating stories about Milton Hershey, his wife Catherine and the incredible legacy they created together.

Things got a little wild when Creatures Great & Small stopped by our York-South (Leader Heights) campus with some very special visitors!
From a colorful cockatiel and turtle doves to a fluffy rabbit, chinchilla, turtles, mice, a rat, snakes and even a hairless Sphynx cat, there was quite the lineup of animals to meet! 🐾
Jae shared fun facts about each animal and gave residents an opportunity to see them up close and enjoy some hands-on interactions.

After receiving a generous donation of fresh flowers, our York-West campus turned it into an afternoon of creativity and giving. Residents selected their favorite blooms and created beautiful floral arrangements—not for themselves, but to brighten someone else’s day. 💙
The activity was a perfect fit for our Purposeful Living and Gift of Giving program, combining creativity with the joy that comes from doing something thoughtful for others.

Historian and storyteller Mikele Stillman took residents on a fascinating journey through the past with her presentation, “Alice Roosevelt’s First Press Conference in 60 Years!”
Portraying President Theodore Roosevelt’s famously outspoken daughter, Mikele brought Alice’s larger-than-life personality to the stage with plenty of humor, wit and memorable stories.
From women’s suffrage and Prohibition to two World Wars and 14 presidential administrations, residents got a glimpse into history through the eyes of a woman who witnessed so much of it firsthand! 🇺🇸
What a fun and engaging way to experience history beyond the pages of a book! 💙

A walk on the wild side to wrap up summer! 🦒🦓☀️
Our Hershey residents traded their usual surroundings for a little adventure with an end-of-summer trip to Lake Tobias Wildlife Park!
The group hopped aboard for a safari experience, got up close with some incredible animals and even had the chance to feed a few new furry friends! 🐾
After all that excitement, everyone gathered for a relaxing picnic and some quality time together. Great company, beautiful weather and a little wildlife made for one unforgettable outing! 💙

A little ice cream and a whole lot of family fun! 🍨💕
Our York-South (Leader Heights) campus celebrated with an ice cream sundae bar, where residents and co-workers piled on their favorite toppings and created some delicious treats!
The sweetest part? Some residents invited their grandchildren and great-grandchildren to join in on the fun, making the afternoon even more special. 💙
From colorful toppings to smiles across generations, it was a wonderful reminder that ice cream tastes even better when shared with the people you love! 🍦😊

Taking Country Meadows out into the community! 💙
Our Mechanicsburg (West Shore) Marketing Team joined Chaplain Eric H. for a visit with friends from the Carlisle Senior Center and Salvation Army. The group spent time learning more about Country Meadows services and watched The Story of a Leader, our short stop-motion animated film sharing the story behind Country Meadows.
Chaplain Eric also brought along his flute to share during the gathering, making for an afternoon filled with information, conversation and connection.
